North Queensland Fury head coach Ian Ferguson has insisted nobody was ever going to leave the club as a result of the disagreement between he and Robbie Fowler.
The incident in which Ferguson decided to leave the marquee striker on the bench for the clash with Brisbane Roar on the weekend has caused quite a stir, especially seeing Fowler then opted to sit out the entire match and watch from the stands.
In the fallout of the disagreement, there was speculation that the ex-Liverpool star would quit the club if Ferguson was to coach on next season but the coach himself has denied any such rumour.
"There was nothing like that at all," Ferguson said.
"I don't know where that's come from ... I don't know anything about it.
''As far as I'm concerned there was nothing like that ever said.
''There was no threats about anyone leaving, it was just a case of trying to fix two differences ... we've sorted that and there's no more to say on it.''
Ferguson said he would love to remain as Fury coach but does admit that he could be out of a job at some point but it won't be because of a dispute with a player, rather it be normal circumstances.
''Things could go wrong with results and everything else could go wrong and you're going to be put out the door anyway but, as far as I'm concerned, I'd like to stay here and honour my contract - I'm a loyal person - and I've enjoyed it here,'' he added.
''The community's been fantastic to me, the crowds have been great and I can't say anything bad about Townsville ... I'd love to honour my contract.''
