FC Twente midfielder Renato Tapia has revealed past trials with Liverpool and Tottenham.

The Peru international was initially brought to Europe by Liverpool, though there was some confusion over his height!

"Liverpool had me scouted as a central defender and when I arrived, I found players in that position at least 1.9m tall.

"I was, however, 1.8m and, according to the testers at Liverpool, I would not grow much more."

He has now grown to 1.85m and Twente staff expect him to grow further.

"I guess the Liverpool testers didn't know as much as they claimed?"
