The father of Chelsea signing Kendry Paez admits the Ecuadorian teen almost joined Borussia Dortmund.

Paez, now a senior Ecuador international at 16, is playing on-loan with Independiente della Valle as he waits to join Chelsea when he turns 18.

"Everything was ready for Kendry to go to Borussia Dortmund," Dad Ray told Las Voces Del Futbol

"Chelsea turned up again, we spoke to their representative and he signed for them. We were going to sign for Dortmund in Germany but everything changed."

Paez has scored one goal in 18 competitive games for Independiente del Valle at senior level.
