Father of Barcelona whiz Ansu Fati: Real Madrid offered bigger contract

Barcelona whiz Ansu Fati turned down an approach from Real Madrid, it has been revealed.

For victory over Real Betis, Fati became the second youngest debutant for Barca, at just 16 years of age.

The player's father, Bori Fati, recalled to COPE how his son caught the eye of bigger clubs when a junior with Sevilla.

"We were in Seville, Real Madrid offered me better conditions than Barça for my son. But they came to my house with the contract and convinced us. Albert Puig came and told me that my son had to sign for Barcelona.

"Sevilla, when they learned this were angry, Monchi asked me what was offered, he wanted him to sign for Sevilla. At 9 years old, Sevilla separated him and left him without playing for a year."

On seeing his son make his debut, Bori added: “It is the happiest day of my life. When he told us that he was called by (Ernesto) Valverde I started to cry and my wife too. When he entered the field, we were on a cloud."
