Father backs Real Madrid keeper Courtois in Tedesco row

The father of Thibaut Courtois insists Belgium and Real Madrid medical staff are in contact about the goalkeeper's knee strain.

Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco has stated Courtois quit the squad after being overlooked for the captaincy for their draw with Austria.

However, Courtois disputes Tedesco's claims, insisting he left to have treatment on a knee strain.

Father Thierry told Footnews: "This morning there was contact between the doctors of the Belgian federation and their colleagues from Real Madrid, based on the diagnostic tests he carried out, the decision was taken to keep him at rest."
