Exclusive: Fiorentina, Lazio deal-maker Cinquini ready for Italy return

Oreste Cinquini enjoyed an extensive time working in Italy, for great teams and succeeding in all of his aims, winning trophies with Lazio and Fiorentina, two clubs that generally do not stock up on cups.

After leaving his mark in Italy, Cinquini is one of the few Italian sports executives who managed to be acknowledged abroad for his talent too.

He took his experience and knowledge of football to other countries, enjoying a very positive experience with Russia, alongside with a top class coach like Fabio Capello, but also as sports director in Zenit St. Petersburg, working with Roberto Mancini and where he helped to sign top players such as Sebastian Driussi and Leandro Paredes (now with PSG), who made their mark with the club.

There has often been talk of his possible return to Italy, even though he was under contract with Zenit until last year.

Speaking exclusively for Tribal Football, Cinquini told us that he would be happy to go back to work in his homeland: "I closed with Zenit on December 31, 2019, I hope that if someone needs my experience and my ability they will call me. I have been 8 years in Russia, if someone needs me I would be very happy to return to work in Italy. I have a lot of passion for football."

Asked what are the things he misses most about football, Cinquini had no doubts:

"I hope to return soon to feel the atmosphere of the locker room, the scent of the grass of the football field."

And Cinquini says he still enjoys a very nice feeling towards football, a feeling that unites all fans, but which has a special meaning for him.

He added, "I always said that football was my passion, after thirty years I can say that football is my life. I can't live without it."
