Exclusive: Arsenal hero Winterburn praises 'perfect' combination with Ramsdale and Seaman

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale will benefit from working with David Seaman, according to Gunners legend Nigel Winterburn.

Seaman spent a week working with Ramsdale following his 30m move from Sheffield United last summer.

Ramsdale, 23, has already displaced Bernd Leno as the club's number goalkeeper and endeared himself to supporters with his passionate and classy performances.

Now the Gunners have brought Seaman back to the club to work with the academy goalkeepers, per the Daily Star.

The former England international made over 550 appearances for Arsenal, winning two Premier League titles and four FA Cups, and Winterburn thinks his presence can only benefit Ramsdale.

"Personally, I love it," Winterburn told TribalFootball.com, on behalf of FreeSuperTips.

"Dave is a big character and was a terrific goalkeeper in his time, from my period him and Schmeichel were the two best goalkeepers around.

"Even if Dave is just a mentor to Ramsdale, someone that's performed at the highest level, produced the saves he's produced and won the medals he's won.

"Why wouldn't you want to have someone around you that could be a great mentor that could just be talking to you.

"Ramsdale might pick up one or two things that a goalkeeping coach hasn't picked up on, so that combination and presence to me is perfect."

Arsenal have set about utilising former players in recent years, including manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu.

They are accompanied by former Germany international Per Mertesacker, who is now chief of the club's academy.

And Winterburn, who spent thirteen years with the Gunners, believes the connection between past and present is vital for the club.

"I do a fair bit of work for Arsenal on matchdays, and I love seeing the ex-players around the ground because I love to see that strong connection between the club and ex-players.

"I wish it was even stronger, but I love being there on matchdays and being associated with the club.

"I'm proud of the teams I played in and what we achieved and I'm hoping eventually teams in the future can go on to emulate the teams I played in.

"I would love to be around if that happens."
