Questions are sure to be asked at Chelsea if Steve Caulker's progress continues at Tottenham.
The 18 year-old is regarded as a top prospect at White Hart Lane and is starring on-loan at Bristol City.
Caulker was rejected by Chelsea and Reading as a 15-year-old and armed with 11 GCSEs, had resigned himself to a career in plumbing while playing midfield in Sunday league.
But Spurs signed him in August 2009, converted him to central defence and then sent him to Yeovil, where he was voted their Player of the Year.
But his Robins team-mates gave him some stick when he sauntered upfield late on and missed a sitter on Saturday. He admitted: "I was already thinking about my celebration when I dragged it wide. The lads were merciless!"
