Ex-Valencia coach Gattuso: Why I left; Lim must make a decision

Former Valencia coach Rino Gattuso feels owner Peter Lim needs to make a decision about his commitment to the club.

Gattuso was hired by Valencia last summer before leaving the job in the second-half of the season.

He told El Chiringuitos: "I knew from day one that it would be a difficult job at Valencia, but it was an honour for me to work for a great clubs like this. I have good memories of my experience.

"At Valencia, you have to give importance to everything, you can't do things halfway. You have to respect the history of this club. It may happen that right now it's not possible to spend a lot of money, but the fans must be understood.

"Valencia fans are like me, we live football at 360°. I suffered a lot in this season finale, I have a strong relationship with many players who gave me everything. I think of (Jose) Gayà, who didn't want to renew the contract and finally signed for me.

"Lim has to make a decision. Valencia are a historic club and deserve more. I didn't feel cheated, but when we started the season, (Carlos) Soler and (Goncalo) Guedes left in the final days of the transfer window... he knew that in January we would have had to buy 2-3 players, but no one arrived.

"When I saw that what we had agreed on didn't happen on January 30, I made the decision to leave."
