Bayer Leverkusen managing director Rudi Voeller admits he's been in contact with former club Roma about snubbing the Super League.

The former Roma striker was proud of his old club's stand.

“Credit to Friedkin, I am happy they are representing Roma," the former striker said.

“We really appreciate their behaviour in Germany. I was in Munich on Tuesday as Bayer faced Bayern, I read their statement that confirmed the commitment to sporting institutions, starting from UEFA.

“I've immediately called [Roma CEO] Fienga to express my satisfaction for the choice, and I thanked them."
