Former AS Roma midfielder Simone Perrotta has defended Francesco Totti and Morgan de Sanctis over their remarks after defeat to Juventus. Both Roma stars hit out at the manner of their defeat a fortnight ago.
Perotta said: "Totti and De Sanctis had the courage to express their opinion, and they should be respected for this because it's not easy to get in front of a microphone and stand against all of Italian football.
"There will be people who agree and some who condemn their words, but I emphasise their courage, character and personality to express something that they felt deep inside.
"They should be respected for what they have given and are still giving to Italian football."
