Ex-Roma chief Sabatini: Juventus wouldn't have worked for Lukaku

Former AS Roma sports chief Walter Sabatini says Romelu Lukaku has made the right call joining Giallorossi.

After last season's loan with Inter Milan, Sabatini couldn't see the Chelsea striker joining Juventus this summer, no matter his plans.

Lukaku is set to sign on-loan with Roma today.

Sabatini told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Many said they would never join Juventus and then went. I didn't find that this declaration was an obstacle to his transfer to Turin.

"However, he would have had the same load of responsibility at Juventus as he did last season at Inter - and didn't manage it well. With one aggravating circumstance: Inter fans let some indecent performances go by and allowed them to find their form. I don't know if in Turin they would have been so understanding with Lukaku.

"And then who knows if he will behave in the future with another club as he did with Inter: if someone is predisposed to certain behaviors in his career..."
