Ex-Real Madrid keeper Diego Lopez announces retirement - and new plans

Former Real Madrid and AC Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez has announced his retirement.

Lopez hangs up the gloves today at the age of 42.

Along with Real and Milan, he also played for Villarreal, Sevilla and Espanyol.

The former Spain international confirmed plans of entering coaching: "I want to go step by step, I am one of those people who think that I have to go through a training period, see where my body takes me and where I can fit better.

"I am training as a coach, I am in the second level of goalkeepers and sports management."
