Ex-Man Utd captain Valencia: I was wary swapping shirts during Fergie era

Former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia admits he was wary swapping shirts with opposition players during the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

In an interview with the Athletic, Valencia also revealed shirts from ex-Man City winger Martin Petrov as well as a Netherlands shirt worn by former United teammate Robin Van Persie.

Valencia said Ferguson allowed his players to swap shirts, but suggested the reaction may not have been as positive after United had lost.

Sir Alex Ferguson did not mind us swapping," Valencia said. “But I only did it when we won!"

Valencia left United earlier this year for Ecuador's LDU Quito.
