Ex-Liverpool, Chelsea striker Torres taking charge of Atletico Madrid B today

Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has kicked off his coaching career with Atletico Madrid B.

Torres, 36, moved back to the Spanish capital to take up a coaching role with the club in September 2020, where he has been making steady progress in his new career.

Marca says Torres worked as part of Ricky Alonso's coaching staff, but on Wednesday El Nino took the reins for Atletico's B team.

Players have been left astounded by Torres' training sessions while he has also shown he can still mix it with the youngsters having taken part in drills with the squad.

Hopes are high for Torres' burgeoning coaching career, and the Spaniard's first game in charge takes place on Sunday afternoon at Poblense.

Atletico B are in ninth place in their 10-team Segunda Division group, picking up just five points from their eight league games this season.
