Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier will make a decision on the Aston Villa job on Monday it has been reported.
The Frenchman was originally believed to have been lined up for the director of football role at Villa Park but recent reports have him heavily linked with the manager's job which will be sorted out early this week.
Villa reportedly want current caretaker Kevin MacDonald to maintain a strong presence with the first team but are keen to bring in Houllier who had success with Liverpool in the early 2000s and more recently led French club Lyon to two titles.
