Ex-Chile coach: Alexis should never have quit Arsenal

Alexis Sanchez's former U20 Chile coach says he should never have left Arsenal for Manchester United.

Jose Sulantay, however, believes moving to Inter Milan can reignite the player's career.

He told TMW: "There were so many negative situations, Alexis Sanchez was wrong in the first place to break with Arsenal at all costs, in doing so he antagonised his teammates, fans and club, and then, once he had fulfilled his desire to play in a more ambitious club, in Manchester he found instead a football totally unsuited to its characteristics.

"United has a style too defensive, Sanchez certainly cannot get excited if you play with long balls."

Asked about Inter, Sulantay adds: "I am convinced. Alexis is coming back, he overcame all the extra-field problems that had recently complicated his life. Now he is free to think only of football, to go back to having fun and having fun doing what he does best.

"He's 30 years old and can still be a protagonist at high levels for a long time."
