Former Caen midfielder Alexandre Raineau says N'Golo Kante shouldn't be playing in England.

Raineau says Olympique Marseille should've worked harder to sign the Chelsea star ahead of Leicester City 18 months ago.

The Chateauroux midfielder declared: "N'Golo carried the team. Without him, we would never have climbed into Ligue 1.

"He wanted to go to OM, but the club did not make the same proposal for the transfer (as Leicester).

"So Caen had said no. He wanted to stay in France."

Kante was named Player of the Year at the London Football Awards last week.
