Ex-Barcelona, Valencia star Lopez: Vini Jr now unbearable problem for Real Madrid

Former Barcelona and Valencia star Gerard Lopez has slammed Vinicius Jr.

Lopez insists Sunday's controversy at Valencia was a long time coming for the Real Madrid star.

He wrote for Sport: “Based on the fact that we are talking about a player with undeniable abilities (probably the most unbalancing in the world along with Mbappé), the situation that Madrid is experiencing with Vinivius Jr. is already bordering on unbearable. The situation that stems from his attitude in recent months cannot be put up with.

"The insults he received in Valencia should not be mixed with the provocative and cocky attitude that he maintains in each match and which leads to a list of enemies that grows as he plays matches, be they rivals, referees or fans. He is persona non grata in Mallorca, Pamplona and now Valencia.

"The player must rethink his behavior because this will go further, and it will end in a departure, something that Madrid no longer rules out. In this scenario, due to his market value and incidence in the game, I see a change of trading cards with Mbappé as the only solution. It is an operation that would benefit everyone. PSG would have an unbalancing player at the level of Mbappé without the internal troubles that he generates in the French club and Madrid would see Florentino's dream come true.

"What was experienced in Valencia is already the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of provocation. The insults from the stands are unjustifiable but they have always existed and will exist in the world of football. Let's not focus on racist insults, which are condemnable.

"Nobody likes any other type of insult but it is part of the daily bread in all categories of football. No coaches, referees or anyone else come out unscathed. It has happened to all of us at one point.

"Vinicius is not unique, nor an isolated case. It's a general problem, but what they can't expect is to respond to these insults with provocations or contempt for the crowd, which only further inflames the existing tension. He adds fuel to the fire and the insults end up multiplying.

"The same team lowers its performance when everything focuses on the figure of the Brazilian. Most of Madrid's defeats outside the Bernabéu coincide with Vinicius's controversies: The defeats at Son Moix, Montilivi and Mestalla coincide with performances in which Vinicius has been in the center of sights and controversies. Madrid must think about what to do with Vinicius and the player which path to take."
