Former Barcelona director Javier Bordas believes captain Lionel Messi is feeling better after trying to leave over the summer.

Bordas worked for the club between 2010 and 2020.

He told Mundo Deportivo: "He is a winner and very much for Barça. When he lost 2-8 and with the previous Champions League he felt fed up and wanted to leave.

"The forms were ugly and wrong, of course, but Messi can also be wrong. Now for him I see him excited, but he needs a little more."

Bordas also said: "(Quique) Setién was a mistake for me. Those who went against (Ernesto) Valverde said that after losing in Valencia they had seen a change and I told them they were crazy.

"I didn't see improvement. Then they put eight (Bayern Munich) against us and everything is a disaster.

"I do not want to charge against the players, but they must assume their responsibility, the one who is very good in 2015 is not the same in 2020."
