Ex-Barcelona director Bordas: Mbappe and his father were willing to sign

Former Barcelona director Javier Bordas has recalled coming close to signing Kylian Mbappe in 2017.

Bordas admits he tried to sign the PSG star when Mbappe was still with AS Monaco.

"If I had been in charge, Mbappé would have played for Barça," he said on El Chiringuito.

The former director assured that in the summer of 2017, when Neymar signed for PSG in exchange for €222m, the club was willing to pay for Kylian, who at that time was beginning to emerge with Monaco.

Finally, the footballer who ended up arriving to replace Neymar was Ousmane Dembélé in exchange for 135 million euros.

Bordas affirms that he preferred the Monaco player, that he even spoke with his father and that they were willing to make the transfer. In fact, the former director became convinced that at some point the operation would end up being carried out.

But the club pulled out of the deal to eventually sign Dembele from Borussia Dortmund.
