Former Barcelona defender Edmilson believes new signing Douglas can match the success of Daniel Alves.
While admitting the Sao Paulo fullback is still very raw, Edmilson says Douglas has the necessary tools to develop into a Barca star.
"Douglas is a player who does not have the features that Barcelona want today," he told saopaulofc.com.br.
"(But) He is a very tough and fast player. Might not have a great technique but can learn to play with the big-name players.
"Sao Paulo will regret losing him. I hope he has much success."
Edmilson feels there's a good comparison between Douglas and Dani Alves.
"When Alves arrived at Sevilla he began as a forward, then placed in the middle and then the wing. Alves is a player who is not very different from the characteristics of Douglas.
"The Dani Alves of Sevilla is totally different to the one of recent years at Barca."
