Former AC Milan defender and assistant coach Mauro Tassotti admits he's still baffled over the sacking of former technical director.

Tassotti made the comment when asked about Zlatan Ibrahimovic's potential return as team manager.

He told TVPlay: "Given that I still haven't understood why Maldini was sent away, no one has ever explained it and clearly it wasn't about the job because it seems to me that both he and (Ricky) Massara had done very well and no one said why the paths were divided.

"In addition to this, I believe that a personality like Ibra's can only be good for Milan. We need to carve out for him the role he wants and define the tasks.

"However, Ibra has demonstrated his weight by playing little in recent years, both from the bench and from the stands.'
