Former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello wasn't surprised by the welcome Sandro Tonali enjoyed last night.
The Newcastle midfielder made a return to San Siro for the first time since his €80m departure from Milan this summer.
The home crowd gave Tonali a rousing welcome back - which was in contrast to how local fans treat another former Rossonero player, PSG goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma.
Capello, speaking after the 0-0 Champions League draw, said: "Donnarumma left on a free transfer, this is the substantial difference.
"Tonali's farewell instead allowed Milan to invest a lot in the market: for this reason he is applauded and Donnarumma booed."
