EURO2016: Miserable Euros sees Russia boss Slutskiy resign

Leonid Slutsky has stepped down as head coach of Russia after a miserable Euro 2016 campaign.

After finishing bottom of Group B and exiting at the group-stage, Slutskiy offered his resignation following the 3-0 Welsh defeat and the Russian Football Union (RFU) confirmed on Thursday that he was now no longer in charge.

"The RFU would like to thank Leonid Slutskiy, who helped Russia to qualify for the 2016 European Championships, for his professionalism and we wish him all the success in his coaching career," a statement said on the www.rfs.ru website.

"Information regarding the new coaching staff of the Russian team will be published on the RFU's official website as soon as there is any information," it added.
