Espanyol coach Diego Martinez has warned they must buy in January.

Martinez says his squad needs greater depth and quality ahead of the January market.

He said ahead of Tuesday's Copa tie with Atletico Paso: "The only news is that we are what we are and we are now.

"The vox populi says so and everyone at the club is clear that there are needs to cover. We have already dragged them from the summer market and also in the matches we have identified the needs and what we must improve... I hope they can come as soon as possible because we need them, not only in quantity but with a level to help in this difficult stretch of the second round.

"We know it's a complicated market, but we need them."

He continued: "We are all aligned in terms of what we need and we already did a thorough analysis after the last official match. We are all aligned and we are clear about what we need. Everything possible is done because adaptation is important.

"I regret that we have not been able to take advantage of the stage in Pinatar to film those who come, but I hope that the new signings have time to fit in and get up to speed. It is a historically difficult market, but we are confident that we can count on new signings."
