Manchester United star Christian Eriksen was not in the squad to take on Newcastle United due to illness.

The Red Devils missed their Danish maestro in the contest at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Eriksen was absent from the game due to an illness, with Brazilian Fred taking his place in the team.

United could only manage a 0-0 draw at home against Newcastle in the contest.

Pre-game, manager Erik ten Hag told MUTV: "He's [Eriksen] ill, so we have some illness.

“Marcus Rashford also is under the weather also not feeling quite well but has enough energy to play a couple of minutes today in the game."
