Al-Ettifaq midfielder Jordan Henderson was cheered by England fans against Italy at Wembley.

Henderson had previously been the target of boos as a result of his move to the Saudi Pro League.

However, when he came on the field in the 68th minute of a Euro 2024 qualifier, which England won 3-1, he got a great reception.

Southgate said after boos rang for Henderson in England's last game: "He is a role model in the squad. I don't understand it. How is (booing) going to help him or the team?

“He has got 79 caps for England - what he has delivered is exceptional. He has taken Jude Bellingham under his wing."
