Bauben said: "Playing against Barcelona would be a dream come true.
"For the last two weeks I have sat in my house thinking that it could be possible if I won a contract.
"Now the manager has kept me at the club, I would love to play on Thursday."
Bauben, who trained with Manchester non-league side Trafford FC over the summer to keep fit, is a former youth team-mate of Evander Sno and is looking forward to lining up against the Celtic midfielder this season.
"I was training with Trafford FC down in England just to keep fit and the manager here gave me the opportunity to come on trial.
"Thankfully I did enough over the two weeks to get a contract and now I just can't wait to get started."
Meanwhile, United boss Craig Levein is seeking a new goalkeeper after Lucasz Zaluska was ruled out for up to eight weeks with a broken foot.
"We're going to need another goalie so I'm working on that just now," Levein said.
"It's a difficult one because if we bring someone in on loan it will be for six months and that will leave me with three keepers when Lucasz comes back but the situation means we've no other option."
