DONE DEAL: Wycombe land ex-Forest striker Taylor

Former Nottingham Forest star Lyle Taylor has joined League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers.

The 33-year-old departed the City Ground club in the summer after spending three years in Nottingham.

Taylor is set to wear the no.30 shirt at Wycombe as he looks to play regular football.

A club statement read: "Wycombe Wanderers have landed the signing of striker Lyle Taylor on a short-term deal, the club are delighted to announce.

"The 33-year-old is a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest and goes straight into the squad to face AFC Wimbledon in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy at Adams Park on Saturday (k.o. 12.30pm).

"Capped 15 times by Montserrat, Lyle has been a regular thorn in the side of the Chairboys throughout his career, scoring five times in seven appearances against Wycombe, winning six of them. He became AFC Wimbledon's all-time goalscorer after forming a lethal alliance with Wanderers legend Adebayo Akinfenwa, and helped Charlton Athletic win promotion to the Championship with a prolific goalscoring record, netting 36 times in two seasons.

"That form earned him a move to Nottingham Forest, where he scored against the Blues in the Championship, and he impressed in a loan spell with Birmingham at the end of the 2021/22 campaign. He arrives at Adams Park following the news that Brandon Hanlan is likely to miss the remainder of the season after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury last weekend."
