Dodd expecting Adelaide United to cope with knockout pressure

Adelaide United captain Travis Dodd expects his side to cope with the pressure of a knockout final this Friday night.

The third-placed Reds host sixth-place finishers Wellington Phoenix at Hindmarsh Stadium in an elimination final and Dodd is confident the squad has enough experience to cope with the finals pressure.

"Playing in the knockout rounds, it's a different kind of pressure," said Dodd.

"I think we can cope with that pressure. We've been playing with a finals mentality for the last few weeks now so as to stitch up our position on the table, and so now we can go into this finals match with confidence."

Wellington's Brazilian midfielder Diego, who used to play with Adelaide, reminded his former club that the odds are with the New Zealanders.

"We've beaten them twice this season, which just goes to show anything's possible," said Diego.

"So you guys (at Adelaide) better be ready."
