Angel Di Maria is likely to miss the start of the Premier League season after injuring his hamstring in Argentina's Copa America final loss to Chile at the weekend.

The Manchester United star was substituted after just 29 minutes of the final, with the Argentine Football Association doctors reporting a tear in the winger's left hamstring.

A tear would mean at least a month of recovery, with United's opening day fixture against Tottenham five weeks away.

Di Maria suffered a disappointing first season at Old Trafford, but his form for Argentina has led to increased confidence the mercurial winger can produce for the club next campaign.i
