Degryse: Leicester ace Tielemans will succeed De Bruyne as Belgium's captain and face

Former Belgium star Marc Degryse is convinced Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans will be the nation's next big star.

Degryse says Tielemans will be the player to succeed Manchester City ace Kevin de Bruyne as Belgium's biggest influence.

Tielemans is being celebrated in Belgium after last week's 5-star performance for Leicester in their FA Cup final triumph against Chelsea. The midfielder proved the matchwinner with the only goal of the game in the second-half.

"Tielemans is special," says Degryse to HLN via Voetbal24. "He will eventually succeed De Bruyne. Tielemans will be the face and captain of the next generation."

Significantly, Degryse also had a warning for the Foxes regarding Tielemans' ambitions.

He continued: "I have the feeling that the big clubs will come and get him after the European Championship. Because Leicester is nice, but they are not going to win the Champions League."

Leicester suffered heartbreak on Sunday as a collapse at home and defeat to Tottenham saw them miss out on Champions League qualification, despite top four rivals Chelsea being beaten at Aston Villa.

Now a popular pundit, Degryse had a year in England playing for Sheffield Wednesday, where he won the club's Player of the Year award in 1996.
