DC United have announced that they have acquired Alain Rochat from Vancouver Whitecaps.
The 30-year old Swiss-Canadian left-back arrives at RFK Stadium in exchange for a natural second-round selection in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and conditional pick for 2016.
"Alain will provide us with immediate help with his experience and leadership," said DC United General Manager Dave Kasper.
"He is a highly technical and intelligent player who can play on the backline or in the midfield. We are very pleased to welcome Alain to DC United."
The former Young Boys, Rennes and FC Zurich defender made close to 70 appearances for the Whitecaps after joining in 2011.
