DC United acquisition Rochat hits out at MLS trade situation

Alain Rochat has blasted the MLS trade process following his move from Vancouver Whitecaps to DC United.

The 30-year old defender has been traded to DC in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2015 SuperDraft and a conditional pick in 2016 but was not too happy about having to up and leave Vancouver.

"If you ask my opinion, I'd say it's terrible," the former Young Boys, Rennes and FC Zurich man told Soccer By Ives.

"This trade thing could be OK in the offseason. You can sit down and talk to the guys. 'OK, it will be better for you to be traded.' You know, like something human instead of, 'OK, we don't need you anymore.'"

Rochat joined the Whitecaps in 2011 and made 67 appearances for the Canadian outfit before his trade to bottom-placed DC.
