Crystal Palace striker Appiah heads to Reading

Championship club Reading have snapped up Kwesi Appiah on loan from Crystal Palace.

?The 24-year old England-born Ghanaian striker will spend the rest of the campaign with the Royals who currently sit 19th on the second tier table.

?Appiah had a successful loan spell with League Two outfit Cambridge United earlier this season and will now look to pick up some game time in Berkshire as Royals boss Steve Clarke experiences a striker shortage.

?"When I looked at our bench during the game at Charlton it was obvious that without Simon Cox and Yakubu we were light on attacking options," said Clarke.

?"When the opportunity arose to bring Kwesi here until the end of the season I felt it was the right thing to do.?"Kwesi is a striker with different attributes to those already at the club. He hasn't had too many opportunities since returning to Palace after a successful African Cup of Nations tournament with Ghana and we are hopeful that he will enhance his growing reputation while helping us to finish the season positively."

?Appiah follows Chelsea youngster Nathan Ake to the Madejski Stadium as Reading's second loan signing in 24 hours.
