Francis Coquelin is on the brink of penning a new three-year deal with Arsenal.

The Mirror says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been hugely impressed with the way Coquelin has seized his opportunity after being recalled from a loan spell at Charlton.

Coquelin earned glowing reviews for his performance at Manchester City on Sunday and has performed well since getting back into the first team.

Arsenal have already made moves to try to ensure that Coquelin does not slip away with his contract running down and they are hopeful of sealing a new three-year deal soon.
