Copa America: Colombia coach Rueda furious after Brazil steal late victory

Brazil defeated Colombia at Copa America in controversial fashion on Wednesday.

The 2-1 victory in Rio De Janeiro stretches Selecao's lead at the top of Group B with three wins from three matches, while Colombia stay in second with four points.

Colombia will feel hard done by after leading the game through Luis Diaz.

The Porto attacker found himself all alone in the middle of Brazil's penalty box when Juan Cuadrado's cross was sent into the box and duly fired a stunning overhead kick to the right side of Weverton.

Los Cafeteros almost held onto victory until controversy struck with 12 minutes remaining.

Argentine referee Nestor Pitana accidentally blocked a pass from Neymar about 10 meters in front of the Colombian area, causing the visitors to stop defending.

But Pitana called play on and the ball was whipped into the box by Renan Lodi for Roberto Firmino to head past David Ospina in the Colombia goal.

It got even worse for Colombia when Casemiro scored the winner in the 10th of injury time, yes the 10th minute.

The Real Madrid midfielder was given a free header at the front post from Neymar's corner and powered home an excellent header.

Speaking after the game, Colombia coach Reinaldo Rueda was seething with Pitana's role in the equaliser.

"The two goals for Brazil are different situations," Rueda told reporters. "In the first, I think that the referee's situation caused distraction in the players.

"Brazil had to go out to find the game, they had a good circulation of the ball and the players who entered had an influence and that is why perhaps [the second half was different].

"But we were incisive and in the end it is a pity that the result could not be achieved."
