Birmingham striker McSheffrey desperate for goals

Birmingham City striker Gary McSheffrey is desperate to get amongst the goals.

McSheffrey, 25, found the net during the 2-1 Carling Cup victory at home to Hereford United but that was his first strike since February.

"I feel that maybe I've been too concerned about being a team player and maybe it's time to focus on what I'm all about which is scoring goals, creating chances and being a threat in the final third," he told the Sunday Mercury.

"I just need to get that selfish streak in me - I know I will always be a team player.

"I love scoring goals but I know I've done well.

"I feel that I'm doing a good job for the team but I want to achieve a lot more and I know it will come good for me.

"I'm just hoping that the manager has faith and confidence in me and that he gives me those opportunities."
