Colombia's Attorney General admits Diaz kidnap search could expand to Venezuela

Colombia's Attorney General Francisco Barbosa has spoken about the incident involving the parents of Luis Diaz.

The Liverpool and Colombia forward is in a tough spot, as his parents were the victim of a hijacking.

While his mother has been rescued, there is a suggestion his father may have been taken to Venezuela.

Barbosa told local media: "We sent the director of the CTI [Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación] and an important team of officials to the department of La Guajira so that they could quickly was coordinated with the National Police, with the National Army, within the framework of the recovery and release of his parents.

"Later his mother was rescued but we still do not know where the father is. There is information that he could be in Venezuela at a certain time.

“If he crosses the border and is in Venezuela, then we must ask President Gustavo Petro, who is a friend of those authorities, to help us with the recovery or the release of Luis Díaz's father."
