Clemente: Wrong for Spain to call up Barcelona teen Gavi

Libya coach Javier Clemente says Barcelona teen Gavi shouldn't be in the Spain squad.

The former La Roja boss has spoken to Radio Marca about Luis Enrique's squad.

“I would not have taken Ansu Fati to the Nations League," he said. “Ansu can't give you more in 20 minutes than any other Spanish player. He has some great quality and speed. He was playing well at Barca because there they didn't tackle him much but in actual football with clashes, I'd not bring a 17 year old to the national team."

He also spoke about Gavi in the same way.

“We are making many mistakes," said Clemente. “Bringing 16 or 17 year olds to play at levels where they can be destroyed. I don't criticise Luis Enrique for the fact that he likes the player but you have to have more care. I would not have done it given the age level and physical condition the player has."
