LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan says Manchester United's appointment of David Moyes as their new manager does not surprise him.
The Scotsman will depart his role as Everton boss at the end of the season to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford and Donovan, who has two loan spells under Moyes at Goodison Park, feels it is certainly the right move.
"It was, in my opinion, the pretty obvious choice," Donovan said.
"I think anybody who has come across him probably in his playing career and definitely in his coaching career has a ton of respect for him and is very happy for him.
"I've never heard anybody say a bad thing about him. I have nothing but great memories of my time there, and I think he's going to do really well."
