Chelsea youth coach Joe Cole has heaped praise on manager Frank Lampard for guiding the club into the Champions League round of 16.

Chelsea have enjoyed a good start under Lampard, sitting fourth in the league and through to the last-16 of the Champions League following last night's 2-1 win over Lille.

Speaking to BT Sport, he said: "He has galvanised the club. He hasn't put a foot wrong since he started in management.

"People forget that Derby wasn't an easy job."

Cole added: "It's great for someone so young to come in and hit the ground running the way he has.

"The confidence he exudes, that bodes well for the future. That steeliness comes through.

"Teams are a reflection of their managers and I'm sure he'll try to get that through to his players."
