Chelsea have turned down a first offer from Manchester United for Mason Mount.

BBC Sport says Chelsea's bid of £40m has been rejected by Chelsea.

Mount has a year left on his contract and has agreed personal terms with United after failing to settle on a new deal with the Blues.

United are expected to try again for the England midfielder, but are reluctant to meet Chelsea's valuation.

The Blues are insisting on £70m to sell Mount.
