Chelsea are preparing a fresh bid for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, according to reports.
The Ligue 1 club are determined to retain Mendy after his successful debut season at the club, having joined from Reims last summer.
But the Mirrorsays Chelsea are looking to make an offer for the 28-year-old that they can't refuse.
The Blues failed with an opening offer for Mendy of €16m, but they will raise that amount soon to hopefully recruit the Senegal international.
But it looks as though Mendy will be brought in as competition and not a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga, according to Chelsea technical advisor Petr Cech.
The Blues legend stated on Sunday that the club were 'not giving up' on the Spain international, despite a poor last season, while also confirming they were looking at goalkeeper options.
