Chelsea planning to go after Man City target Guardiola

Chelsea will not let Pep Guardiola join Manchester City without a fight.

According to Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, the Bayern Munich boss will be the subject of a battle between the Premier League duo after announcing his decision to leave the German champions at the end of the season.

Guardiola has been a target for Man City for some time but Balague believes Chelsea will seriously go after the Spaniard after they were forced to sack Jose Mourinho last week, sparking a potential bidding war.

"City are convinced they have done enough to get Pep Guardiola, but they have not signed anything," he said on Sky Sports.

"Roman Abramovich is aware of that and is trying to convince Pep by giving him a blank chequebook.

"The only thing that is clear is that his next job is in the Premier League. That's the only thing that nobody doubts."

Balague added: "City want him to become their Alex Ferguson, the one who puts the foundation for the future of the club.

"In my opinion, City is an attractive project but Chelsea is in London and there is that attraction.

"His intention is to give an answer in January to his future employees."
