Chelsea midfielder Mount: Special to score against Southampton as Portsmouth fan

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount admits he enjoyed his goal against Southampton - as a boyhood Portsmouth fan.

Mount's second-half penalty earned Chelsea a point as they came from behind to draw at Southampton, who ended a run of six successive defeats in the Premier League.

Afterwards, he said: "We had a lot of control in the first half. We spoke at half-time. We didn't create enough in the final third. It was poor.

"They had one chance and scored, they caught us off guard."

On growing up a Portsmouth fan and scoring against Southampton, he added: "It means a little bit more to me. But the most important thing was to get the win.

"We need to win these games if we want to be up there. We need to look at what went wrong.

"I was next on penalty duty. I was always confident."

On working with new manager Thomas Tuchel, Mount concluded: "I'm enjoying it. We need to keep winning and keep pushing for results."
