Chelsea midfielder Kai Havertz helped Werder Bremen with their summer transfer work.

That's according to Werder coach Markus Anfang, who sought out Havertz when first considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Mitchell Weiser.

Havertz and Weiser were teammates at Bayer and the Chelsea star was happy to recommend the defender when Anfang called.

"Kai told me that Mitchell is a good boy, that he could help us and that he would be a good fit for us," said Anfang.

Weiser has joined Werder on a season-long loan.
