Chelsea keeper Mendy loving life in London: People recognise me in the street

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has opened up on his love for life in London.

The Senegalese goalkeeper joined from Rennes last summer and immediately established himself as the club's number one.

And Mendy admits he is starting to get recognised in London after last season's Champions League title success.

"I like to go to in central London with my family, and with my sister as well," Mendy told the club's website.

"She lives in the city, and I'm nearer the training ground, but I go into the city to see her and walk around the city.

"Last time I went on the London Eye with my family, it was perfect. The weather was good, and the views were amazing. We went to Hyde Park too which is beautiful.

"Before we won the Champions League not many people recognised me, but now more do. The people are really good with me, they respect when I'm with my family. They just say 'hello' or 'keep going, you're doing well' and I really appreciate that."
