Chelsea hold trump card in Thiago Silva contract battle

Thiago Silva's son could dictate whether he stays with Chelsea next season.

The 39 year-old is off contract in June and is wanted by Chelsea to sign on for another 12 months.

However, interest from Flumninense has turned Thiago's head, having spoken about a wish to play out his final days with his former club.

But Chelsea could hold a trump card in son Isago.

The 15 year-old is impressing inside Chelsea's academy and is on a contract to 2025. As such, there's a hope Thiago Silva will commit for another year next season to assist his son's development.

Younger brother Iago is also on the books at Chelsea.
